About the Syrian Canadian Foundation (SCF)
SCF was founded in 2016 as a response to the Canadian government’s commitment to resettling Syrian refugees. Recognizing the importance of dedicated support, we’ve been ensuring newcomers from all over the world experience a smooth transition ever since.
Our Mission Is To Accelerate Newcomers’ Ability To Thrive Within The Canadian Community.
Working with partners and volunteers who share our vision of inclusivity and empowerment, we aim to build a strong support network. Our goal is to create a Canada where every newcomer has access to the support and community they need to thrive.

About the Women in Civic Engagement (WICE) Program
Comprising of 25 to 30 highly educated and passionate women, WICE supports participants in continuing their civic duties, advocating for human rights, and engaging in policy-making at various government levels and within non-profit organizations.
WICE's comprehensive program offers a blend of educational components and practical experiences, equipping participants with the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of the Canadian political system and contribute positively to civic life. Through WICE, women gain the skills and opportunities needed to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond as continuous learners and strong leaders.
We partner with participants to provide opportunities for acquiring new skills and applying their expertise toward achieving their civic aspirations in Canada. The program serves as a platform for sharing experiences, addressing systemic barriers faced by newcomers, and overcoming leadership challenges for women in Canada. By working together, we support these women in securing leadership roles, expanding their networks, and participating in policy-making to become influential agents of change.
The views and experiences expressed by WICE participants are their own and do not represent the views or positions of SCF.
